I have downloaded the agenda for the AGM but it is in PDF format and my PC says that it does not recognise the programme which created the doc. ( or words to that effect )  Geoff, you always post documents to the forum in 2 formats and I have no problem with the alternative to PDF but can I enable my PC to read PDF and if so, how do I do it please ?

If you go to the club website, you'll see a link to download the free Adobe pdf reader. Make sure you untick the option to install McAfee when you see it.
